Act4Africa Uganda is an award-winning NGO, working with long-standing partners and registered charity Act4Africa UK. We aim to reduce poverty and transform communities through our health, education, agriculture and livelihood programmes. Reducing gender inequality is central to our work. In our experience, it provides the most fundamental obstacle to eradicating poverty.

we believe in change

More than a million people reached

Since we began, we have provided over half a million people with HIV/AIDS and sexual health awareness training, tested around 100,000 people for HIV and sexually transmitted infections, and helped over 1500 women gain economic independence and receive on-going mentoring and support.

Our approach to all of our work is called HEAL and deals with four areas:

HEALTH

We strive to combat the spread of infection, particularly HIV/AIDS, and to provide communities with clinics and reliable health education

EDUCATION

We are committed to offering quality early-years' education and support to girls of all ages, and to influencing individuals and community leaders about the importance of female education

AGRICULTURE

We work with women subsistence farmers to increase their agronomy knowledge and equip them simple, cost effective ways to improve their yields, family nutrition and income

LIVELIHOODS

We work to boost women’s economic participation and security, and their ability to participate in enterprise and trade
